The Secret World will open to everyone during one-month celebration next weekend

SWTOR dominates GDC Online Awards nominations,SWTOR vs RIFT -TERA

That's not to say that SWTOR is the only MMO in the running; quite the contrary. Glitch is up for Best Online Game Design, World of Warcraft has a shot at Best Community Relations, RIFT is a strong contender for Best Live Game, and TERA might snag Best Online Visual Arts -- and that's just the tip of the iceberg. There's also a broader Audience Award that encompasses an even wider field.
2012's Game Developers Conference Online is taking place from October 9th through 11th and will be keynoted by John Smedley.

Your thoughts on guild wars 2 and other mmo's

I really feel like to many people compare gw2 to WoW and other games when they are their own game.

I think the reason they do is WoW has been (and still is, for now) the most popular MMO and has typically set the benchmark for forthcoming MMO's.

It's a game that is familiar with many and I think that's why people want to compare it to GW2. But I can see why they shouldn't be, they are as you said completely different games. It's chalk and cheese with these two, hopefully once everyone gets a chance to see that they'll realise this isn't just an upgrade to GW but a complete( and overdue) revamp of the genre.(buy Guild Wars 2 gold)

I agree with Humanitarian. Statistically speaking, more people are familar with WoW than any other MMO so it's natural for them to compare GW2 (and basically every MMO coming out) to WoW. There has been some teased information recently about a storm coming to RIFT. Today we got to learn more about what that storm is. RIFT’s first expansion, Storm Legion, is set to release this fall.

GameSpot got the chance to chat with Executive Producer Scott Hartsman about what the expansion will add to the game, and it looks to be pretty big. Trion Worlds will be adding two new continents, which aim to triple the size of Telara. The expansion will also expand on the instant quest system, a level cap increase to 60, new world and zone events, the city of Tempest Bay, a new soul for each calling and more.
